What is Dye Sublimation?

Dye sublimation is a printing process that uses heat to transfer dye onto materials such as fabric. In this process, the dye is first printed onto sublimation transfer paper using a dye sublimation printer. The sublimation transfer paper is then placed onto the material to be printed on and heat is applied using a heat press or similar device. The heat causes the dye to sublimate, or turn into a gas, and bond with the fibers of the material, resulting in a high-quality, permanent print. Dye sublimation is commonly used for printing on items such as apparel, mugs, and signage, as it allows for vibrant colors and detailed prints that are long-lasting and resistant to fading.

What is Sublimation Paper?

Sublimation paper is a specialized paper designed to hold and release sublimation inks when heat and pressure are applied. It's engineered to perform a critical role in sublimation printing, ensuring that the inks transfer smoothly and accurately onto the desired material.

Special Coatings and Their Roles

The key to sublimation paper's performance is its special coating. This coating is formulated to hold the ink until it is transferred during the sublimation process. It often includes substances that enhance ink

absorption and release.

What’s the common specifications of sublimation paper?

1.Some customers use the sublimation transfer paper in rolls. The regular roll width are 61cm, 91cm, 112cm, 122cm, 132cm, 152cm, 160cm, 162cm...For the roll length, can usually be customized as customers’ need.

2.Sometimes the transfer paper need to be cut into sheets, like A4, A3 size...

What kind of inks need to used together with the sublimation paper?

Be sure to use sublimation transfer inks, which are made with disperse dyes that sublimate at transfer temperatures and stain with the substrate. Good quality thermal sublimation ink should not block the printer head, will print realistic color, and good stability.
